Material Quality: Bone China

*Note: lead-free and cadmium-free

The 'Tulip' shape was introduced in October 1931 as a pretty, new design for tea ware, coffee sets, or fancies. The cups display a large tulip embossed on each side, while the handles are in the form of butterflies with the wings extended backwards. The clarity of the painting and the very dainty shapes are now regarded as characteristic of the period. The 'Tulip' design, registered no. 765794, was ordered by Queen Mary, and some examples are marked "As Supplied to H.M. the Queen."
